Yavapai Small Acreage
Do you live in a rural area? Do you have a well? Do you have animals? Are you wondering what you can do to make your acreage productive for you? You might be interested in workshops that we periodically hold for Yavapai County residents.
Examples of workshops:
- Beginning Farmers workshops are for those who are interested in starting their own business growing vegetables and/or other specialty crops.
- Private Well Owner workshops provide information about: geology and aquifers, regulations, well registration, well operation and maintenance, naturally occurring contaminants, when and how to sample well water, and home treatment options for your well water.
Please let us know if you are interested in receiving information when the next workshops are scheduled - Mary Barnes email@example.com
Learn how to use rainwater that would otherwise runoff or evaporate. Passive rainwater harvesting involves slowing down runoff allowing it to infiltrate the ground. Active rainwater harvesting stores water for later use.

Well Water Testing and Treatment Options
Private well owners are responsible for testing their own water. The National Groundwater Association recommends that homeowners test their water for arsenic, nitrates/nitrites and bacteria annually. The Yavapai Cooperative Extension offers many educational resources to help residents who have a private well.
