Zoonotic diseases are of great concern in the food chain. Manure, water, humans, and wildlife could be sources of transfer of these diseases to food. This requires a great effort by growers to avoid contamination in the field, transit, and point of sale. In collaboration with the Arizona Department of Agriculture, outreach programs focus on good handling practices and good agricultural practices (GHP/GAP), which include wash stations, packaging, and delivery.
