Record Books

Record books are an integral part of the 4-H learning-by-doing experience.  Besides being able to showcase their hard work through a record book, 4-H’ers gain valuable record keeping skills.

Record Books submitted are judged by community volunteers using the Maricopa County 4-H Record Book Scoring Rubrics. Once Record Books are judged, ribbons are placed, and results are recorded, Record Books are returned to leaders. 4-H'ers with the highest Record Book scores will be recognized at the annual Celebration of 4-H Youth Night.

Record Book Tips and Trainings

  • This year Maricopa County has stepped away from the State 4-H Record Book. We have created a new form to make the process more user friendly. DO NOT use the older record book forms or ZSUITE.
  • There is only one form to fill out now - There is no need for a member record and a project record.
  • Please list project work for all your projects, you no longer need to choose just one project.
  • Every age group has their own form, so make sure you are using the correct form.
  • Each year is now self contained. Information will not be cumulative. However, past record books should still be placed in the record book. The current year should be placed in front, and should have previous years behind.
  • If you have more to list than can fit onto one page, please use the extra page form for that page.
  • Please use additional covers if the record book is too large.
  • Record Book Covers are available  at the Maricopa County 4-H Office.

National 4-H Congress

Senior 4-H members who have submitted a Record Book for the past 3 years are eligible to apply for National 4-H Congress by submitting a National 4-H Congress Youth Application Cover Sheet with their Record Book.  Top entries are chosen and sent to the Arizona 4-H Office. Arizona 4-H will then choose a group of the top entries to attend National 4-H Congress in November (maximum of 8 delegates). Please see the 4-H National Programs page for additional information on this and other programs.
