Our Impact
Arizona Cooperative Extension's impact spreads to every corner of the state through business partnerships, community engagement and youth development programs.
For more than 100 years, our statewide network of experts, trained educators and volunteers has connected communities to University of Arizona research and resources so people can overcome their biggest challenges and grow a more sustainable future.
Economic Impact
Cooperative Extension's annual $21 million in funding from the Arizona State Legislature is a direct investment in communities. We serve as a force multiplier for that money, creating jobs and generating an overall return on investment of $4.87 for every dollar of state funding, according to our recent analysis. Our agriculture science makes farms and ranches more profitable by helping them save water, improve efficiency, control crop loss and improve yield.
Personal Impact
Through early childhood development, financial literacy and many other programs, Extension helps people thrive in every corner of the state. We live in the communities we serve, so we have a vested interest in helping them succeed. Our community health and education programs help build strong families, strong minds and strong bodies. Our tribal initiatives engage Native American communities through education and outreach on development, sustainability, and resiliency.
Impact on Youth
Our programs in 4-H, the state’s largest youth-serving organization, inspire young people to be the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs and problem solvers. We help youth explore through hands-on learning and mentoring that prepares them for education, jobs or whatever their future might bring.
