Speaker: Maricopa County Master Gardener Kim Rillero

CLASS INFO:
Take your kitchen scraps and turn them into the best soil amendment nature makes. Join us for an informative demonstration on vermicomposting! You’ll get an up-close look at a thriving worm habitat and learn everything you need to know to start your own system. Kim will demonstrate how to create an affordable worm habitat by using simple materials. Discover the dos and don’t of worm feeding, and see how to harvest nutrient-rich casting for your garden.

SPEAKER BIO:
Kim Rillero is an author, educator, storyteller, and passionate advocate for sustainable living and global understanding. Her work with Urban Farming Education and the Our Plot of Sunshine curriculum combines her love for teaching with her commitment to addressing issues of poverty and hunger. Her passion lies in teaching children and adults how to grow their own food, promoting self-sufficiency while integrating science and math education. She values social justice, diversity of perspectives, and leading by example, continually seeking and implementing solutions to alleviate suffering and empower communities through education and sustainable practices.
