Extension programs
Cotton Production System Program
Herbicide efficacy trials, integrated pest management, and variety testing for Arizona cotton producers. Current focus: 15-treatment pre/post-emergence herbicide trial at MAC and Palmer amaranth resistance monitoring across 8 county sites.
Resilient Crop Production Program
Small grain, forage, and silage corn trials addressing water scarcity and climate variability. Includes planting date × seeding rate × bed vs. flat configuration trials designed with grower input from the 2025 statewide NAS.
Weed Science & Herbicide Resistance
Palmer amaranth monitoring, tank-mix optimization, and integrated weed management. Dual-mode herbicide programs shown to reduce weed biomass more effectively than single-mode applications while lowering resistance selection pressure.
Soil Health & Water Efficiency
Cover crop demonstrations, soil amendment trials, and irrigation scheduling research. Responding directly to growers' top-identified challenge: water scarcity was flagged by 48% of the 2025 statewide survey respondents as their #1 issue.
