Join us for monthly invasive species deep dives, where we spotlight the invasive threats facing our Sonoran Desert. Led by Ben Tully, Invasive Species Outreach Coordinator with Cooperative Extension, each session covers the history, spread, identification, and removal of these species.

November's Focus: Arundo donax (Giant Reed)
This month, Ben will highlight Arundo donax, or giant reed—a towering plant that’s hard to miss in our washes, with its corn-and-bamboo-like appearance. Not only does it drain groundwater needed by native plants, but it also spreads quickly, outcompeting local species. Discover how we’re working to protect Southern Arizona’s riparian areas from this aggressive invader!
