“Beetles live everywhere and do everything,” says entomologist Richard Jones. With over half a million identified species worldwide, beetles display remarkable diversity in shape, form, behavior, and ecology. Yet, many people see them only as pests. In reality, beetles play crucial roles in ecosystems—they can indicate freshwater quality, help identify threatened habitats, and support biodiversity. Their movements across the planet are even helping scientists track the impacts of climate change.
Join us for an engaging class where we’ll explore the fascinating world of beetles, their importance in the environment, and how to recognize the many beneficial roles they play.
Presented by Deb North and suitable for all gardening levels.
