Our Work

Connecting law, policy, and University of Arizona expertise to the needs of Arizona's farmers, ranchers, miners, foresters, and communities. Through research, outreach, partnerships, and learning opportunities, we help natural resource users navigate complex challenges and make informed decisions.

Focus areas

How we work

Across forestry, mining, agriculture, and other natural resources, four pillars guide how we connect university expertise with practical needs.

Effective Communication & Outreach

We translate complex legal and policy developments into accessible information through plain-language publications, presentations, workshops, and direct conversations with natural resource users.

Strong Collaboration & Partnerships

We connect producers, communities, agencies, researchers, and other partners to identify shared challenges and inform our work with practical experience.

Relevant Research & Focused Investigation

We investigate legal and policy questions affecting natural resource users, connecting applied research with the challenges facing Arizona's working landscapes and communities.

High-Impact Learning Experiences

We connect students and natural resource professionals with real-world issues through applied projects, field experiences, and opportunities to learn directly from practicioners.

Federal Grazing Policy Workshops

Changing federal grazing policies raise practical questions for Arizona's ranchers and land managers. The NRULPC, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, and Arizona Association of Conservation Districts are bringing grazing permittees, agency representatives, and other stakeholders together to examine these changes, share resources, and discuss their implications for grazing on public lands.

Through presentations and discussion, the workshops connect legal and policy analysis with the experience of those who manage and depend on Arizona's rangelands.
