Insect Discovery
Overview
We foster scientific curiosity in elementary school students by bringing hands-on activities with live and preserved insects to classrooms throughout Arizona. Children are natural scientists, and early engagement in science learning is important both to stimulate interest in a scientific career and to promote general scientific literacy. Our program provides a variety of resources, including classroom visits, workshops and lesson plans, to help teachers make the most of their students’ fascination with the amazing and diverse world of insects.

Classroom Visits
Bring science to the classroom and introduce your students to a University of Arizona scientist.

Workshops
Connect your class to a morning of scientific discovery at the University of Arizona Flandrau Science Center.

Video Library
Learn what ants eat, what insects swim in water, why bees sting and more!

Great Arizona Tick Check
Send ticks you find to researchers and help them build a map of tick-borne diseases in Arizona.
