Bring Water Wise to Your Classroom

We provide free 30-90-minute lessons to classrooms, libraries, and after-school programs in Cochise County that align with learning standards.

Contact Kim McReyonlds at 520-766-3602 or kimm@cals.arizona.edu for availability and activity options.

Classroom visits

Provided as a free service by the University of Arizona Cochise County Cooperative Extension, Water Wise classroom lessons can be reserved by any Cochise County school, library, or afterschool program.

We offer more than 20 lessons, which are described in our curriculum guide. Some activities require open space in a gym or outside, but all are inquiry-based, interactive, and fun. Most specific lesson space and supply requirements are listed in the curriculum guide.

Lessons align with state standards. To learn more about grade-specific standards addressed by lessons, contact the Water Wise Youth specialist.

Lessons are designed for K-8 students, with the highest number of classes offered to 4th graders. Teach high school and want to try lessons? Email us!

Group size is limited to 40 students in one class. Most lessons do not adapt well to a full-school auditorium setting.

Lessons can be 30-90+ minutes long, depending on the class level and specific lesson chosen.

We can schedule lessons weekly, biweekly, monthly, or on a one-off basis. Teachers are able to schedule a whole year's worth of lessons in advance! Schools located outside of the Sierra Vista area may consider coordinating with other teachers to do several classes in one day.
