Apprentices for the Agriculture Workforce Development Program
Guidelines for Apprentices
Apprentices in Extension’s Agriculture Workforce Development Program should be planning a career in agriculture. Farming and ranching are demanding physically and mentally, and prospective apprentices should be invested in pursuing a farming or ranching lifestyle. Apprentices can earn up to $10,000 and:
- Must be 18 or older
- Must be physically able to safely perform the host’s work with reasonable accommodations
- Must be willing to work in all weather
- Must complete a minimum 130 hours of work
- Must complete a skills checklist for a work readiness certificate at the completion of the apprenticeship
