Heifer Show Rules:
- All Greenlee County Jr. Livestock rules apply. This includes required paperwork.
- There will be two heifer classes as follows:
- Breeding Heifer Class- heifers 6-8 months of age.
- Replacement Heifer Class- heifer 18-24 months of age.
- Superintendent will determine the number of classes necessary for judging convenience.
- Classes will be divided by height.
- Heifer must not have calved by Thursday of the fair.
- All heifers may be subject to having teeth checked to verify age.
- Heifers will be judged on breed characteristics, type, quality, conformation, and future usefulness as breeding stock.
- Heifers will not be offered for sale at the fair.
- Heifers must be entered in the show on or before the steer weigh in date set by the Jr. Livestock board. Any submissions after the steer weigh in date will not be accepted.
- Heifers will be entered in the show by submitting a clear picture of the heifer and an identifying tag in the heifers ear to the Jr. Livestock board. This picture should be accompanied by the exhibitors name and age.
- Exhibitors must show control of their heifer upon arrival at the fairgrounds. Any heifer that is deemed unmanageable by the Jr. Livestock board or superintendent will not be allowed to show and will be taken off the fairgrounds property.
- All exhibitors must be residents of Greenlee County or Virden NM.
- All heifers will be picked up by exhibitors on Sunday of the fair at a time determined by the Jr. Livestock Board.
- There will be a County Champion and an overall Champion in each heifer Class. Awards/prizes for these classes will be determined each year based on participation and funds.
