Invasive Species Series: From Garden Darling to Desert Menace - The Story of Fountain Grass

Presented by the Pima County Master Gardeners

When

5 – 6 p.m., May 21, 2025
5 – 6 p.m., May 21, 2025

Part of an ongoing series on invasive species in the Sonoran Desert, this talk provides an in-depth look at one invasive plant, exploring its ecological impacts, adaptive strategies, and management approaches. The presentation lasts approximately 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A session for further exploration.

Fountain grass may look beautiful, but behind its graceful plumes lies a serious threat to the Sonoran Desert. This fast-spreading invasive plant fuels wildfires, displaces native species, and alters fragile ecosystems. Join us for a closer look at how fountain grass made its way into our landscapes, why it's so dangerous, and what we can do to stop its spread.

Presented by Ben Tully and suitable for all gardening levels.
