Tomatoes 'R' Us

This property was purchased for the potential of growing vegetables and edibles. The homeowner's vision has created an expanded, productive, and beautiful 1,000-square-foot, in-ground vegetable garden covered with 40% shade cloth and in-ground irrigation. Come and learn how and why this edible garden is so successful.

Serendipity: Garden Design and Evolution

The homeowners of this garden have enjoyed growing plants that are beautiful, produce fruit, provide habitats for animals, help control erosion, and are successful in our harsh environment. This garden began 30 years ago and you will enjoy experiencing its evolution.

Citrus in the Southwest

Beginning with an empty canvas, the love of picking fruit to eat or cook with, and sharing with family and friends brought the homeowners to plant 18 citrus trees. This collection consists of Ponderosa Lemon, Finger Lime and Kumquat only to name a few. For pops of color, there are also geraniums and roses along with a few varieties of peppers. Be sure to see this exciting collection.

Keep it Simple

This garden was created in 2014 to go with the contemporary style of the home. They removed the Cat’s Claw vine on the back fence to reveal the view. Most of the yard is low maintenance yet very stylish and includes raised beds for growing herbs, veggies, and fragrant, colorful flowers.

Sonoran Desert Show

This garden is a beautiful example of the principles of Xeriscape! Preserving the natural native zone on the periphery allows the animals to traverse undisturbed while the homeowners enjoy watching them. The transitional area is populated with native and desert-adapted trees and native plants that benefit from a bit of shade. Adjacent to the house is the oasis zone where there are plants that are Sonoran Desert natives as well as desert-adapted plants that require more frequent irrigation. Outdoor living spaces have been added to enjoy the wonderful views of the Catalinas, Rincons, and the city lights at night.
