Join us for a new Short Take series highlighting native plants of the Sonoran Desert! Each session spotlights a single species, exploring how these resilient plants are uniquely adapted to our challenging climate. Saltbushes (Atriplex spp.) are among the Sonoran Desert's most adaptable native plants, thriving in heat, drought, and even salty soils. Learn about several local species, including four-wing saltbush and quailbush, and discover how these hardy shrubs provide year-round beauty, valuable wildlife habitat, and outstanding low-water landscape options. We'll also cover growing conditions, maintenance, and tips for using saltbush effectively in desert gardens.
