Book Sharing Professional Development Workshop for Early Childhood Professionals
Join us for a free online professional development workshop for early care and education professionals who work with children and families from American Indian communities. During the first half of the workshop, Candice Tallsalt (Diné) will present about her children’s books written in English and Navajo and Bernadette Talkalai (San Carlos Apache), an Apache teacher with the Language Preservation Department of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, will present about teaching native languages to young children using children’s books. During the last half of the workshop, participants will break into small groups and share children’s books that are written by native authors and/or celebrate native people and cultures and engage in a discussion about how they use these books with young children.

- All attendees will receive a list of the books shared during the workshop.
- The first 100 attendees to sign up will receive a free copy of one of Candice Tallsalt’s books.
