In this project you will be able to appreciate the part food plays in our relationship with our family and friends, understand the principles of nutrition as they relate to personal appearance, physical fitness and health, and become skilled in planning, purchasing and preparing appealing, satisfying meals and snacks. The activities in each book are designed around five major categories: healthy food selection, food safety, smart food purchasing, food preservation, and food preparation. In addition you will learn about choosing lower fat foods, altering fat content in foods, comparing costs of convenience foods, learning how to evaluate media nutrition information, how eating and emotions are connected, planning menus on a budget, planning an international food festival, baking fish, making a double-crusted apple pie, marinating meat, making peanut butter and careers in the food industry. To complete this project you should complete a minimum of three activities from a different "bite" category and do an action demonstration at the club/school or county level for each project level.
