Awards Information
Each year at the Arizona 4-H Summit, the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation gives Hall of Fame Awards, Volunteer Excellence Awards, and Staff Excellence Awards to outstanding members of the Arizona 4-H community. If you know a 4-H volunteer, staff member, or family who always performs above and beyond while modeling professionalism, respect, kindness, and a passion for what they do, be sure to nominate them!
4-H Staff Excellence Award Nomination:
4-H employee excellence is based on the impact to the overall program by employees who go above and beyond their roles to ensure youth achieve thriving outcomes through high-quality programming and positive relationships. These employees should model the thriving outcomes with examples such as demonstrated personal and professional growth and challenge, high personal standards and responsibility, and/or high performance in teams.
Each year, three Staff Excellence Awards are given to Arizona 4-H staff across all roles within the organization.
4-H Volunteer Excellence Award Nomination:
Volunteer Excellence Award: 4-H volunteer excellence is based on the impact to the overall program by volunteers who go above and beyond their roles to ensure youth achieve thriving outcomes through high-quality programming and positive relationships. These volunteers should model the thriving outcomes with examples such as demonstrated personal and professional growth and challenge, high personal standards and responsibility, and/or high performance in teams.
There are four award categories that volunteers can be nominated for:
- Rookie: In addition to the general excellence award requirements, the rookie excellence award applies to volunteers with less than three years of service who have exhibited significant impact to the program beyond their experience with 4-H. Candidates may have introduced new and valuable skills to the program or have stepped into challenging roles needed for the positive evolution of the program.
- Mid-career: The Mid-Career Volunteer Excellence Award applies to volunteers with more than three years and less than 20 years of service who have exhibited significant impact to the program beyond their experience with 4-H. Candidates may have introduced new and valuable skills to the program or have stepped into challenging roles needed for the positive evolution of the program. Volunteers in this role may have stepped up and contributed to county-wide, state, or national 4-H contributions, or they may have provided considerable mentorship to other volunteers.
- Innovator: The Innovator Volunteer excellence award applies to volunteers who have in the course of the year prior developed, implemented, or helped create new programming in their club, county or within the state of Arizona. Nominees may have introduced new and valuable skills to the program from any of the Great Eight Pathways to Participation. Evidence of positive youth development outcomes and need for the innovation should be conveyed in the candidates nomination.
-
Lifetime achievement: This award was created in memory of Bonnye Stuhr. In 2020 Bonnye won the Lifetime Achievement Award, and very sadly passed away shortly after. The nominees should embody Bonnye's commitment to social change and 4-H leadership. In addition to the general excellence award requirements, candidates for the lifetime achievement award have served as a volunteer for over 20 years and demonstrate continued growth in their volunteer development and impact for the program. Additionally, lifetime achievement candidates should exhibit excellence in teamwork particularly in the form of mentoring other volunteers.
4-H Hall of Fame Award Nomination:
The aim of the Arizona 4-H Hall of Fame is to celebrate how Arizona 4-H improves peoples' lives and the communities they live in. Significant 4-H contributions can be identified in terms of Mastery (project work) or Citizenship/Leadership (contribution to community). Arizona 4-H Hall of Fame Recipients can be selected based on their professional achievements, personal successes, and/or their significant contributions to creating youth opportunities through Arizona 4-H.
