This Agent has a split appointment: 49% of the appointment is designated to nutrition education for low-income families. This Agent manages the Adult Extension Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and supervises, trains, the para-professionals who deliver the program. The other 51% of the Agent's appointment is focused on general adult nutrition (not limited to low-income families) that improves diet and health. The principal functions of the outreach program for this Cooperative Extension Agent, Family & Consumer Sciences include nutrition education programs that:
focus on food and nutrition programs for low income families that teach skills to improve health and make sound nutritional choices;
improve the nutrition and health status of Maricopa county residents;
improve life skills, healthy living options and work force preparation promoting self-reliance of families.
