Pinal County First Smiles
Did You Know?
Did you know that tooth decay is an infectious bacterial disease, and is number one ahead of asthma, hay fever, and obesity? Did you know that babies don’t have these bacteria when they are born, but get them from the adults in their life? Untreated tooth decay can cause infection in other parts of the body and lead to many other health problems. Here in Pinal County, 41% of kindergartners have untreated tooth decay.
The goal here at First Smiles is to help our children of Pinal County get a healthy start when it comes to their teeth. We offer free oral health education, screening, fluoride varnish and tooth brushes to children from birth to 5. Research shows us that a healthier mom leads to a healthier baby, so we offer screening and education for expectant mothers too.
Free screenings are fun and interactive and can be done in your home, at our office, in the preschool classroom, or at the park!
