ABOUT

Ed Curry in Green Chile Pepper Field

WELCOME

As chairman of the 2022 International Pepper Conference, I am honored to welcome each of you to the great state of Arizona, the beautiful, comfortable and welcoming city of Tucson, and specifically to our farm and seed division in Pearce, Arizona where you will see some of the latest cultivars and chile pepper germplasm from universities and seed companies.

I strongly encourage any and all participants to take full advantage of what we hope to be one of the most exciting educational experiences in the study, dissemination and exchange of the latest scientific information of all types of peppers, with a special focus on Capsicum annum types grown in the Southwest USA.

Each day promises to be filled with opportunities galore of meeting fellow chile aficionados from world renowned scientists, processing specialists and company representatives, to prominent production and soil heath specialists. Demonstrations of the latest chile pepper harvest equipment available today will also be on display.

Monday evening, September 26th, there will be a reception to welcome each of you to Tucson, Arizona USA at the Tucson Marriot University Park that is located just west of the main University of Arizona campus.

Tuesday, September 27th, will be an enjoyable 70 mile ride southeast of Tucson to the home of Curry Farms. We will see mechanical harvest demonstrations and view field plots of the latest commercial cultivars from seed companies worldwide. We will also hear lectures from prominent soil scientists, as well as enjoying awesome southwest cuisine. The lunch will include Mexican dishes and chile rellenos made from fresh chile from our fields. After the field demonstrations, we will travel back to Tucson, where dinner will be on your own. There are many delicious, quaint restaurants located nearby in ‘Old Downtown’ Tucson filled with Southwestern history.

Lastly, on Wednesday, September 28th, the oral and poster research program will be conducted at the Tucson Marriott University Park. Chile pepper research from around the world and including a wide variety of topics will be presented. In the evening, a beautiful banquet with awards and ‘Thank Yous’ will be held at the facility. As an added bonus, Wednesday evening entertainment will be provided by Tucson’s very own Ronstadt family musical group "Never on time"!

We are excited to see all of you September 26th, 27th and 28th 2022.

All the best!

Ed Curry
