Gila County 4-H Mobile Makerspace
The Mobile Makerspace is a specially designed trailer equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, a vinyl printer, laptops, and open-source design tools that can transform any Gila County classroom, library, youth club, or community event into a makerspace. The Mobile Makerspace is supported by the University of Arizona and BHP.
What is a Makerspace?
Makerspaces are creative, “do-it-yourself” spaces that encourage design, experimentation, and tinkering to solve problems. Makerspace provide:
- Hands-on engagement with science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM).
- Opportunities for youth to find their spark and explore STEAM career possibilities.
- Collaborative experiences where youth learn to work as a team, communicate and overcome failure.
- Meaningful mentorship where youth are encouraged to take on leadership roles and reach their full potential.
Bring the Mobile Makerspace to Your Area!
We will begin providing lessons in the fall of 2023. Connect with our team to learn more about bringing the Mobile Makerspace to your area.

STEAM Experiences Matter

Research shows that kids and teens enrolled in STEAM programs have a higher interest in attending college and pursuing science related fields. STEAM programs also encourage youth to develop critical and creative thinking, problem-solving skills, literacy and collaboration and discussion skills.
Create, Make and Master

Coding a robot, creating 3D art and getting certified to use laser cutters is just plain fun! These activities also hone the skills kids will need to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow. Who says building that resume can’t flex your creative muscles?
