We’re Those Kids is about more than just raising a project animal for show and sale at the fair. We will actively learn about animal husbandry and how we can use the products provided by of our livestock. This includes fiber crafts and we hope in the spring to introduce some milk crafts from our dairy goats. If you are interested in wool sheep or Angora goats let me know and we will help you find them. Most of the wool sheep in our club have been Shetland sheep, with Navajo-Churros and a few other fine wool sheep.
We have several dairy goat does available for adoption by club members. Please contact me if interested.
Members do not need to have a project animal. The Fiber Crafts portion of the club is open to all and some members may be here just for the crafts and skills. Sewing projects will explore sewing skills, with project range to include sewing machine operation, choosing individual projects, fabric, pattern or design, pattern placement, measuring, cutting, and construction. Learning opportunities may expand into yarn or other textile projects.
We will discuss potential projects at our fist meeting. We will also start our planning for the year, so please join us Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5:30 until 7:00 at the Fitzpatrick Bldg. on Keystone, at Gibson Street in Miami.

If you are a facebook member please join the Gila County 4-H public group page, and the We’re Those Kids, Gila County 4-H page. We regularly share information about activities and events on these two pages. We will be sending messages, particularly meeting times and updates through text messages. We will not be sending messages through messenger. We will share plans and updates through email, but most information will be shared on facebook.
New members- there is a requirement that all youth participate in two competitions during the year. There are several to choose from and a few of them cover both requirements, meaning you may get the annual credit done with one event. The Skill a Thon meets two requirements, as does the Beef Cook Off and the Show Off later in the program. In addition to attending club meetings and activities, members will attend the Community Club meetings and events, participate in two approved activities and perform community service with their club and or the Community Club and complete both 4-H Member Record and Project Record books. And most important is that we plan to have fun along the way.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Registration remains open so please be sure to invite your friends to join the fun.
Thanks,
Karen
