Karen Hanshaw

Karen has over 20 years of experience coordinating and managing education programs. Her focus is providing excellent leadership and seeking ways to collaborate with other programs, departments, and organizations to further the work of the University of Arizona and sponsor, City of Tucson Water. She works to ensure that Smartscape meets the educational needs of the professional landscape community and residential water users in Pima County regarding best management practices for sustainable landscapes and efficient irrigation. Karen has a Master's in Administration with a focus on Leadership, Public Management and Small Business from Northern Arizona University. A graduate of Western Extension Leadership Development IX, in 2018, she is utilizing the excellent tools and insights gained from the internship, and is making progress on her Innovative Project of "Expanding Smartscape Programming Into Other Municipalities".
