This position is split between children, youth and family development and County Extension Director. Programs are developed, implemented and evaluated for food safety and nutrition, youth asset development, family and community focused youth programs. These programs are emerging to meet the needs of families in Apache County which is approximately 75% Navajo; unemployment rate is 52% on the reservation and 9.5% off the reservation. Apache County is ninth in the nation for children under age 5 per thousand. The County Extension Director's major responsibilities are to promote and coordinate the efforts of County Extension Personnel in developing an effective county Extension program.
