The Pacific Branch of the Entomological Society of America recently honored University of Arizona entomologists John Palumbo and Ayman Mostafa.

2023 Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management

Palumbo, who is an Extension Specialist, Professor, and Endowed Chair in Integrated Pest Management, won the Pacific Branch ESA 2023 Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management. Polumbo’s main role at UArizona has been investigating the biology, ecology, and management of important pests plaguing Arizona vegetable production, with a primary interest in chemical management of insects.

2023 Award for Excellence in Extension

Mostafa, an Associate Regional Extension Specialist, Associate Area Agent and Interim Director, Maricopa County Cooperative Extension, won the 2023 Award for Excellence in Extension in recognition of excellent performance through program creativity, impact, achievement, and delivery.

The Pacific Branch of the ESA includes Arizona, California, nine other western U.S. states, seven U.S. territories, five provinces in Canada, and four states in Mexico.
