May 23, 2021 Cotton Advisories
- The windy weekend storm system has exited the region and will be replaced with an area of high pressure that will bring a return to clear and dry conditions with less wind. Expect temperatures to return to normal by mid-week, then warm to above normal levels by the weekend. Triple digit high temperatures are expected in most cotton production areas by Friday.
- Colorado River flow into Lake Powell for April-July is projected to be 1.85 MAF (~29% of median), third lowest on record.
- The latest projection for the monsoon season exhibits a strong warm bias. Earlier forecasts projecting a wetter monsoon have now been replaced with a projection for drier than normal conditions in eastern Arizona and near normal elsewhere.
