2019 Citrus Clinics

Arizona winter brings us bountiful citrus. The sweetest thing about blooming citrus in our home gardens is knowing the harvest of our favorite fruit is soon to follow. To better manage the flavor, size, and health of your citrus and deciduous tree fruit, join the Maricopa County Master Gardeners at their annual citrus clinics offered in both East and West valley locations.

The clinics, now in their 16th year, feature the foremost state citrus experts, including The University of Arizona faculty and noted local professionals. The experts will present eight learning stations on topics such as how to select and plant fruit trees appropriate for our climate, citrus fertilization, irrigation, pruning, and how to solve fruit tree problems through pest identification and management. While you are there, do not miss the display of more than 100 citrus varieties and sample many of the varieties made available that day.

2018 Fall Festival & Plant Sale with
Maricopa County Master Gardeners and Metro Tech High School

The annual Fall Festival and Plant Sale event was hosted by the Maricopa County Master Gardener program in collaboration with the Metro Tech High School located at 1900 W. Thomas in Phoenix, AZ.  The day was full of sunshine, local vendors, and plants galore.

More than 70 dedicated Master Gardener Volunteers greeted over 800 patrons at the 2018 Annual Fall Festival and Plant Sale.  The Maricopa County Master Gardeners propagated and donated more than 1,500 plants that found new homes within the local Maricopa County gardens and landscapes. As festival patrons purchased donated plants, Master Gardener experts were available to provide advice on proper plant placement, installation, and care.

The day’s event included a plant sale, vendor sales, prize drawings, and a treasure of rummage items.  Unique vendor items this year included a beautiful variety of garden art, handmade soaps, garden pottery and specialized garden soils and mulches.  A children’s corner captured the time and attention of many children as they created crazy Fall hats and seed necklaces.

The Maricopa County Master Gardner program would like to thank Metro Tech High School, our Master Gardener volunteers, patrons, and vendors. We could not have done this event without all of your generous support.

We would also like to acknowledge the following organizations for their support through their generous prize donations to the Fall Festival Drawing:

  • Arizona Science Center

  • Desert Botanical Gardens
