3rd Annual Central Arizona Field Day
The 3rd Annual Central Arizona Field Day was held on October 18th, 2013 and the Maricopa Ag. Center. Dr. Phillip Roberts, Extension Entomologist and Professor, Department of Entomology, University of Georgia discussed the ecology and management of stinkbugs in cotton and other crops. Dr. Peter Ellsworth discussed commercial-scale trails for the management of stink bugs in Arizona cotton . Dr. Bill McCloskey discussed crop rotation and Palmer Amaranth management. discusses several topics, including: precision cultivation, planting and mechanical weeding technologies, limited irrigation impacts on Silage production, corn silage development advisories, agriculture water status, new cotton insecticides & new predator thresholds, and management of summer forage pests. 19th Annual Maricopa County Short Course
The 19th Annual Short Course will be Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the SRP Pera Club. During our recent “Tent Talks” meetings in Central Arizona, the topic of electing the correct spray nozzles for herbicides was subject of discussion with Bill McCloskey, UA Extension Weed Specialist. This topic, and others related to “Precision Technologies for Variable Rate Pesticide Applications” will be featured during The 19th Annual Maricopa County Short Course. UA Extension Specialists, Pedro Andrade will present integration of GPS technology on spray application equipment; Bill McCloskey will describe selection of correct spray nozzles for sprayers; and David Kopec will explain and demonstrate proper sprayer calibration techniques.
