Fire-wise and Water-wise

This property integrates a wild mountainside, functional hardscape and productive edible plants including berry patches, fruit trees and raised vegetable beds.  The landscape is surrounded by a native area which adheres to fire-wise and defensible space principles.

Pollinator Garden

Lush beautiful flower gardens with unusual plants and sculptures are thoughtfully combined for year-round interest.  The diverse blooms attract a wide range of pollinators - butterflies, bees and birds, followed by abundant seed production.

Habitat Garden

Perched on a canyon edge with views of Thumb Butte, Granite Mountain and Flagstaff's Three Sisters, the garden was designed to blend with the surrounding native landscape. See how a relatively flat lot, boulders and native plants can become a habitat for wildlife who benefit from collected rainwater, nectar and seed sources, and layered perennials shrubs and trees for perching, nesting and protection.

Demonstration Garden

This small yard on the edge of native vegetation is a great demonstration of maintaining a defensible space while still enjoying beautiful vistas.  Learn about building healthy soil, successful methods of raised bed and container gardening and capturing rain water with a rain garden and swales.
