The Irrigation Water Management program provides growers with up-to-date information on managing their irrigation systems for crop growth. This includes science-based information on crop water requirements, irrigation system management and irrigation scheduling. Crop information includes water usage for a variety of crops including vegetables, tree crops and traditional row crops. Science-based information on irrigation system management is also available including deciding when to irrigate, measuring soil moisture and determining runtime for drip irrigation systems.
The UA-sponsored meeting held in Avondale, AZ, included a water-based discussion by Ed Martin, U of A Cooperative Extension irrigation specialist. Martin opened the spigot for discussion on ever tightening water supplies in Arizona agriculture and potential ways to help cotton producers more efficiently utilize water in cotton production.
