Many of Arizona's newest residents have recently moved from urban settings. In order to better integrate these new residents into the existing fabric of rural counties and communities, it is vital that they learn the skills and information necessary for successful and sustainable rural living.
Arizona Cooperative Extension provides a myriad of resources for small-acreage landowners in the State, and new sources of information are on the way.
Recently, the National Network for Sustainable Living Education (NNSLE), a network of Extension professionals from around the country, including University of Arizona Cooperative Extension faculty Mark Apel and Erik Glenn, completed work on an online course called "Living Sustainably – It's Your Choice" hosted by eXtension. This course is free of charge and designed for anyone who may be hearing a lot about sustainability, but has had no formal introduction to the topic.
