Smartscape is a training program specifically designed for professionals in the landscape industry. We have a range of students who seek Smartscape certification, such as those working for municipal parks and recreation departments, landscaping companies, nurseries, and landscape design firms. Classes cover essential topics and important skills for planning, planting, and caring for low-water-use landscapes in the Sonoran Desert.

Smartscape is presented as a series of eight, 2 ½ hour workshops. Each workshop focuses on a specific topic, including:
Participants who attend all classes (or make up the maximum of two that can be missed) and pass the test receive a certificate of completion, decals, and a lapel pin indicating they have completed Smartscape training. Graduates have the opportunity to market themselves as Smartscape Certified professionals by being included in the Online Directory. Each class is taught by an expert in the subject matter. Speakers are qualified by their education and professional work experience.
Registration is limited to the first 65 applicants, and to no more than five persons per company. Registration fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.
