Reporting Impacts
Wed, 07/15/2009 - 7:50pm — admin

- An Outcome is a change in the knowledge, attitudes, skills, or behavior of a program participant. Outcomes are generally short-term or medium-term.
- An Impact is a larger Change in a community or some segment of society that results, at least in part, from program activities. Impacts are generally long-term.
- Program Activities (or outputs) are things like workshops, factsheets, websites, that are used to deliver the educational messages of the program; they are not outcomes.
- Documenting program outcomes is important but challenging. It requires identifying desired outcomes (part of program planning) and collecting and analyzing data (during and after program implementation) to determine if outcomes are being achieved.
- Communicating program outcomes and impacts is important to personal success, promotion, and future funding.
