This program is funded through First Things First, provides preventative dental health education by utilizing a trained oral health provider to increase children's access to preventive dental health and fluoride varnishing for children birth to five in Cochise County. Childcare providers and educators learn the importance of preventive oral health care and how to recognize and understand oral diseases and conditions, and implements classroom-based tooth brushing.
The First Smiles program – an initiative of First Things First, administered in four Arizona counties by Arizona Cooperative Extension in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences – aims to improve the dental health of children from birth to 5 years old.
