8.06.03 - Insurance Coverage for State Vehicles
Insurance Coverage for State Vehicles
Arizona law requires the owners of personally owned vehicles to carry an insurance card in the vehicle showing evidence that the owner of the vehicle is financially responsible. University vehicles do not have insurance cards and are exempt from this requirement
As the University of Arizona is an agency of the State of Arizona, University vehicles are exempt from and do not carry evidence of financial responsibility. If asked about the University's insurance, say that the University is self-insured and exempt per ARS §§28-4003 from needing evidence of insurance as a State of Arizona owned vehicle.
