Volunteer Resources

Discover the world together with young people… be a 4-H Volunteer! Arizona young people need you to step up and serve as a mentor, coach, guide or resource. In 4-H, you are more than just a volunteer. You are instrumental in inspiring the next generation.

In 4-H, there are lots of ways to share your talents and time to help youth develop along a positive path to the future. Research shows that kids benefit from having caring adults in their lives.  Won't you be that person?  Do you like robotics, GPS, scrapbooking, cooking, gardening, dog care, financial management, or woodworking? These are just a few of the fun things to do in 4-H. It's not just a program for farm kids. Some opportunities are short-term and others can last longer – it really is up to you.

4-H needs:

  • club leaders--organizational leaders who provide guidance to clubs that meet about every month and conduct their business
  • project leaders--volunteers who have skills or talents they want to share with young people.  You can set your own schedule to meet with young people and help them develop a passion for the things you are interested in--like woodworking, caring for an animal, robotics, cooking, sewing and a whole lot more.  Take a look at our project list to see all the ways to get involved.
  • resource leaders--people who can only make a short term commitment but want to help out – at camps, fairs, clinics or other ways.
  • parent helpers of all kinds.

Arizona 4-H has a role for you, no matter what your interests or abilities.  Don't worry if you don't think you know enough to teach others.  As a caring adult, you can learn right alongside young people and have fun in the process.  So – what are you waiting for?

To get involved, contact your local UA Cooperative Extension County Extension office.  You can easily find your local office by clicking on the map on this Website.  Ask for the 4-H agent and tell them that you would like to volunteer today. For some quick information on 4-H volunteering, see our Volunteer FAQs.
